EVE: Shu Guang

Name: Shu Guang
Race: Minmatar
Bloodline: Vheriokior

That's the story you will find in my bio:

"Shu Guang is not a very talkative person. She learnt from her grand-father that listening and watching are the best ways of learning. She would have loved to learn all those things from her parents, but she never met them. The last time she saw her mother she was only a little baby. Her grandfather was a ex-soldier who couldnt go back to fight so he took care of her instead. One day, when she was still a little kid, she saw her grandfather crying. She knew in that very moment she will never see her parents again. She didnt ask. She never asked him about them, she never asked him about grandma. Then she started to wonder about the truth of all these deaths, and she started to make questions. She never found the true about her parents, she never found who killed them, she still doesn't know who and why. But she keeps asking. She decided to ask right where things are happening, so she had to become a pilot, just like her parents."

Why do I play EVE? Because is different to any other MMO I played so far. From the character creation (morpho creation) till the interface, the background... Besides the market system is the most advanced in any of the MMORPGs, what makes it very interesting.

What do I like about EVE? The market system as I just said, the possibility of having a totally unique character appearance, the organisation (guild) management is also amazing, and the background story is continuously being updated, depending on the players and what's going on in-game.

What don't I like about EVE? The super-monotone mission-quests, besides the background looks always the same. I think is needed of some character action, out of the ship (what is suppose to be happening soon! Let's see again then!). I also don't like the training skills system; its based on real time, not in-game time, what means that you can just pay for levelling up your skills without actually having any idea about what every skills does or is needed for, and someone who never plays but pay can have exactly the same skills you have expending your time (and isk, the ingame money, because running around is always a risk of loosing your ship) playing it.

Why did I stop playing EVE? You could say i stopped because I got bored of the quets, as I am training (because I am still training even when I am not playing it) as a fighter. I tried mining but it was even more boring for me, since I am not a very "chatting in-game" kind of player. Besides that, RL also made me stop playing it because it takes time and total concentration to go fight.

When am I gonna go back to EVE? I don't know, soon or later I will join again. After all, RL goes first!

GW: Shu Guang

Character Name: Shu Guang
Profession: Monk
Type of Character: PvE
Level: 20
Campaign: Prophecies

"Shu Guang doesnt know who the parents are. As far as she can remember about her life, she lived her whole childhood in that small monastery. Maybe the parents didnt have money to feed her, maybe they wanted a better life for her, maybe they just didnt want her... She will never know, but now at days, that's the last thing to be worry about. It's war time and she knows she has something to do. The monks showed her how to heal and how to fight, that's more than what anybody needs to know to survive during this ugly age".

Why do I play GW? Just because I think that is the greatest fantasy mmorpg game that I could find so far. Of course, there is a lot of things that I would change, but since GW2 is coming soon, I'm gonna wait to have a look at it, because as far as I heard, some of that things have changed there.

What do I like about GW?
  • The storyline: It's not only about leveling up, but finding out the end of the story.
  • The management of the skills. Because allows you only to have 8 at a time, that make it more fair during PvP and more interesting, since you have to find out your own builds (set of skills that work together the best way as possible).
  • The different possibilities you got: missions, challenges, quests, different dangeons, different PvP areas...
  • The posibility of playing alone, without having to interact with another players (some days you just dont feel like playing with other people, and the henchmen are not too talkative...).
  • The Heros, NPCs that you can control as your own character.
  • No monthly fees.
  • Good maintenance of the servers.
  • ...
What don't I like about GW?
  • The limitation about where to move in the map.
  • No jumping, no swimming...
  • No PvP anywhere you want.
  • No chance to choose "Good" or "Bad" side of the story.
  • Limited repertory of armors.
  • No actioneer or another way of sell&buy besides the spamming on the trade chat (that most of the people doesnt do, but spamming the general chat).
  • ...

WoW: Arrasha

This is the profile I wrote for my first guild in WoW:
***
Character Name: Arrasha
Character Race: Troll
Character Class: Priest
Character Professions: Herbelist, Alchemist.
Character Description: Arrasha was born one day, like 15 years ago (why she is always 15 years old, year after year, nobody knows) falling down from a tree (how did she appeared up in that tree, nobody knows). Her first words were: "ouch, damnit, that hurts!". From that moment on, she decided to be a priest (what connection does it have, nobody knows) and fight against the so called Alliance (why does she hate them, nobody knows... oh... wait! yeah, everybody knows why!).
She is... a Troll.... ; kind of pinky skin, with big feet (... a troll...), and long pink (or violet, nobody really knows...) hair, brown eyes and short tusk (... only 15 years old, you know? They will grow up!).

I play in "Defias Brotherhood" server, a pvprpg realm.
About the level... should be around 40, but I dont really remember, to be honest. I played quite a few other chars in other servers, some are around lvl 10.

What's pvprpg?
PvP means player versus player. It's when you have the chance to kill another character that is not an NPC (not player character = "computer controlled" character).
In WoW is based in the 2 different sides of the story: the Alliance and the Horde (I was on the Horde side). So the pvp is basically that you can kill the players that you find around from the other side of the story (and be killed, of course).
My first char was on the Alliance side, but after a while i couldnt stand so many kids trying to be Legolas, and I started this char on the other side. But that didn't mean that I was gonna get away from those kids (and when I say "kid" I'm talking more about an actitud than an age); lame people is everywhere. Besides the Allies keeped attacking low level villages to get their "honor" (???) up... and some of them just to be annoying...
The game is quite exciting because of the pvp part (I dont understand people who chose a non-pvp realm, the fun is gone then!), becuase, honestly, the quests and missions become a bit monotone and boring after a while.
Rpg means role play game. Suppously you go around interacting with the rest of the players as your char, and not as another player (of course, some people doesnt get that, and when you team up, they inmediatly ask you "how old are you? where are you from? are you male or female?...", what makes me wonder why they dont just go to a flirting chat...).
This part is really fun, becuase you have to make your story out, and try to act loyal to what you thought your char would be if it was real. Trolls have that Hamaican touch, so it was really fun.

What don't I like about WoW? Beside the monotone quests, and the endless time you take to level up (and then be able to actually do something!), there is not much I can complain about.

What do I like about WoW? Besides what I just said about the pvprpg, the great graphics, and the totally playfull map (without having to wait for the download of the next area), there is tons of details that makes this game really good: the possibility of learning professions, the way you can make bussines with the actionners, the multiple possibilities of armors you can get, the way you have to think propperly about how you chose the skills you train... Somehow all this things make your character kind of unique.

Why did I stop playing WoW? Because of Blizzard, the company who doesnt care about the costumer, because they already have so many... In short, the problem started with one of the last patches before the Burning Crusade came out. My game was a present, and I didnt get the cds, but only the serial number of the account (It was not a second hand account, but the person who gave me the game just never bothered to send me the packet after he gave me the serial number, we didnt think I was gonna need it), so I had to download the american version of the game, and change some files to play in the european realms. So far so good. But the patches that Blizzard realeaze are not the same for both versions, so my game totally screwed up. I could see in the forums that I was actually not the only one. Blizzard ignored our petitions. Finally the problem was fixed by some other player who was nice enough to share the files that fixed it. That was the last time I logged into WoW: Why should I pay monthly for a service that you dont get? I mean, GW, for example, doesnt ask for monthly fees and the costumer service works anytime you need it anyway, and the servers are always up.

Am I gonna continue playing WoW?... After all... yes, Im afraid so. It's a very enjoyable game, that's the truth. It doesn't force you to use much brains (to be honest), as EVE does, for example, so it's quite relaxing to play. When? I'm not sure. No long ago, one of my MMORPGs partners told me he was thinking about testing that game out. I might join him then.

My "RPGs CV"

Everything started with "Baldur's Gate". I had been playing RPGs with some friends (the traditional way: with the books, your profile, a pencil, a boll of chips, a beer, the candles...). One day one friend told me about the RPG world on PC, and he gave me this game as a present. Inmedially I became addicted. My first char was a female human fighter called Zarya (Shu Guang in russian, actually). For a few years I continued playing PC RPGs for 1 player, untill someone introduced me to the world of the MMORPGs. There was when Guild Wars appeared:

I played first in a sharing account, what, obviously, became problematic, so I ended getting my own: Guild Wars Prophecies CE (I love my shinning hands!^^). I must say I've found quite a lot of good friends from all over the world, playing that game. Some of them have even tried another games with me. But personal problems took me away from it for long time. After a while, the next campaign, Factions, came out. I have to be honest: I didnt like it at all, I got bored. So I decided to try with some other new games. The next one was World of Warcraft.

For 4 months I played a little priest Troll called Arrasha. I must say the game is fun when you play in an RPPVP server, that allows you to go on with your quests, with the excitament of getting own by some allies... Besides the fact of getting bored because of the long time taken to increase your level (and so, be able to really do some PvP), the game is amazing. Then, why did I stop playing it? Because of Blizzard. I got some problems with some patches (is a long story) and like me, tons of players who complained on their forums. Blizzard ignored all of us, and the problem was solve by some nice player... I refused to continue paying for a service I was not getting (since you have to pay monthly). Then I decided to test the MMORPG that is suppous to be one of the best ever: EVE online. Although it's not a fantasy based game, it got me for a few months: Shu Guang bought her first space ship.
But it's more about PvP, and I'm not a PvP player, plus the first few months is quite frustrating (the skills take long time to train), I decided to take a break for a while.
Before going back to Guild Wars (and also during my game time in one of those other big MMORPGs), I tested a few other games: Dangers & Dragons (what I found boring for a monthly payd MMORPG), Linage2 (very nice game, but I didnt continue because some friends advice - that's another story), Flyff (Fly For Fun, cute anime based game), Silkroad Online (nice game totally for free), Hero Online (another anime looking game based in martial arts), Last Chaos (quite nice looking, similar to L2, but with a very laggy servers that make the game impossible), and a few others that I dont even remember anymore.

Now I'm continuing with Guild Wars NightFall, but I'm still keeping all my characters in the other games, and I know I will go back to them one day.
